How does it work?

Stöff is a simple rental marketplace where users rent items (stöff) to each other for a fee.

Need stöff?

• Then you sign in with electronic identification and create an account.
• Then you search for the stuff you need, select the number of days you want to rent, and book through the site. We don't charge your card immediately at booking, but instead, we freeze the amount until the owner of the stuff has approved the booking.
• Once the owner of the stuff has confirmed the booking, we take the payment from your card.
• As the rental date approaches, you arrange a meeting with the owner, and you agree on the exact delivery time and location.
• When you receive the stuff, we always recommend that you check it carefully and confirm that it is in the same condition as mentioned in the rental ad.
• We also recommend that you take pictures of the stuff when you receive it so you can confirm at return that it is in the same condition.
• When the rental period is over, you return the stuff at the place and time you and the owner agreed upon.
• Last but not least, go to Stöff.is, rate the owner and the stuff, and write comments to help other users find good owners and good stuff in the future.

Do you have stuff you'd like to rent out?

•  You sign in with electronic identification and create an account.
• Then you list your stuff on the website
  • Write a descriptive title that attracts renters
  • Write a nice and good description of the stuff
  • Choose a rental price per day, you can even change the price for certain days
  • Choose which dates your stuff is available for rent
  • You can offer a discount if renters rent your stuff for more than X days, you choose this number of days
• Then you publish your stuff on our site and wait for the first renter.
• We then show your stuff to potential renters in the search results.
• You will receive an email from us when someone wants to rent your stuff.
• Then you log into our site and decide whether you want to rent your stuff to this person at this time.
• Once you have confirmed the booking, you contact the renter in messages here on the site, and you agree on the exact location and time for the delivery.
• Before you hand over the stuff to the renter, we recommend that you take a photo of it (possibly a video that demonstrates the functionality of the stuff if applicable).
• When the rental period is over, you receive the stuff back from the renter at the place and time you have agreed upon.
• If, by some unlikely chance, your stuff gets damaged during the rental period, you can apply for compensation, see more about owner protection at Stöff.
• Then you can log in to Stöff.is to rate the renter and write comments that help other owners find the right renters for their stuff.
• We then pay out for the rental within 2 weeks from when the rental took place.
